Come and get to know me a little…
Dr Janice Liew, Clinical Psychologist
BPsych(Hons), MPsychol(Clin), PhD
I have been practicing for almost 10 years, working primarily with adults who experience anxiety, depression and trauma. I particularly enjoy working with family of origin issues, and value providing a safe therapeutic connection for my clients.
Therapeutic Style
I value working together with my clients to compassionately understand their difficulties and histories, and using our shared understanding to collaboratively develop a plan to move toward their goals. I believe in the importance of a safe therapeutic connection, where clients can feel supported to share their difficulties, to develop effective ways to manage these difficulties and to move toward meaningful change.
The modalities I draw from include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Schema Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). I use these evidence-based therapies flexibly, according to the needs of my clients.
Clinical Experience
I have been practicing in the mental health field for almost 10 years, working with adults in a range of settings, including community mental health teams, inpatient acute mental health wards, private hospital day programs, and private practice. I have experience in treating depression and other mood disorders, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, eating disorders, trauma and difficulties with emotion dysregulation.
When I am not in private practice, I work for NSW Health in inpatient and community mental health settings.
I am also an APHRA Board Approved Supervisor.
